Let's be honest; we didn’t quite know what we were getting ourselves into when it came to The Museum of Contemporary Art, or MOCA for short. We found ourselves with an opportunity to catch a glimpse of some of the galleries while out at Art Walk and couldn’t resist. The museums daunting size seemed much cozier once we were on the inside. This could have been because we were surrounded by Evan Roth’s 3-story installation Since You Were Born. The space was filled to the brim and highlighted the months of Internet search history since the birth of Roth's daughter. The piece presented us with an intriguing way to enter the mind of a new parent in the age of technology. While Roth wowed many by having the largest installation, our favorite that night was a series of pieces by Ali Banisadr. Each meant to tell its own story but only if the viewer is observing the small details of the work. While we were only able to see a portion of the museum open to the public for Art Walk, the museum houses around 1000 pieces in its permanent art collection!! If the glimpse we saw is anything like the rest of MOCA, we’ll be wandering the halls for hours on our next visit.
