Lunch on bae? Count me in! For the last 3 years Historic Five Points has housed The Bread and Board. A cute shop with specialty cheese boards, culinary sandwiches, salads and fresh made desserts. Oh and did we mention the happy hour?! The restaurant is cozy and inviting but has enough space that guests don’t feel like they’re sitting on top of each other to eat. We particularly enjoyed how the restaurant is sprinkled with live plant arrangements, they really bring through an earthy vibe. While it is deli sandwiches and salads, the ingredients and combo choices are what make The Bread and Board unique. It may not be for picky eaters, and Phillip was weary as most of the items seemed to include pork, we chose to get some things to share so we could experience it together. First up was the Sweet Tea Turkey sandwich and we opted to get the aioli and apple slaw on the side. Next was the Cajun Fish sandwich with zucchini pickles and remoulade (on the side)! Both sandwiches were simple but when we took a bite they were packed with flavor. Kudos to this kitchen!! It’s a meal that will be on our minds for many weekends to come. We’re not exactly foodies, but we are in love with the food scene around Jax. Give this spot a try next time you’re looking for a happy hour that doesn’t skimp on the snacks or a casual lunch with friends and we promise you won’t be disappointed.
